Unkown Device “Yellow Bang” Listing in Device Manager After Reimage

Motion Computing LS800 & LE1600 Tablet PCs

OS Version:

Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 (XP Service Pack 2)

After running recovery CDs for English, German and French languages on the LE1600 or LS800 systems with BIOS A05 there is an unknown device indicator in the Device Manager.

The “Unknown device” is Trusted Platform Module (TPM). Because of the recent change in the BIOS A05, the recovery media (P/N 027-02-00xx, Rev. A01, English, German and French) is failing to find the correct path to install TPM driver which cause a bang to show up in the device manager. Note: The recovery media was built prior to the change in the BIOS A05.

There are two ways to install TPM driver.

TPM driver INF Install

In this method, only the TPM driver will be installed that will remove the bang in the device Manager. Infineon software will not be installed.

· Double click on the “Unknown device” to open the properties window.

· Select “Driver” tab and click on “Update Driver...”

· Choose “No, not this time” in the Hardware Update Wizard and click on Next.

· Choose “Install from a list or specific location (advanced)” and click on Next.

· Check the box “Include this location in the search:” and click on “Browse”

· Point to the driver folder: C: > Windows > Motion > Infineon_TPM > TPMDriver in the Browse For Folder window and click OK.

· Click on Next in the subsequent window. Windows will install the driver.

· Click on “Finish” in the wizard Window and click on OK in the properties windows.

Run the Infineon Software Setup

In this method, Infineon Software will be installed which will also update the TPM driver.

· Click on Start > My Computer > C: (Local Disk C:) > WINDOWS > Motion > Infieon_TPM > Setup.
